Tips for Back to School After the Winter Break
New Year’s has come and gone and the end of winter break is slowly coming to an end. Before you know it, your little one will be going back to school and restarting their regular routine. We all know that the first day back is always the most challenging especially after having a few days off. Getting your child re-accustomed to the morning routine can be quite challenging. BHW understands that this transition can be difficult and is here to assist you in creating a smooth transition back to school.
- Sleep Schedule: One of the most difficult tasks with going back to school is getting back to your child’s normal sleep schedule. To avoid the morning grouchiness and tantrums, try getting your child back on their routine a few days prior to the actual first day of school.
- Be Prepared: No matter how much you try to get your child on a sleep schedule, there is always a possibility of them oversleeping. Because of this, it is wise to have everything prepared the night before. For example, make sure your child picks their outfit the night before and check the weather channel to assure that this is the ideal outfit for their first day back considering the winter season! If possible, also make an effort to pack their lunches the night before.
- Review Your Child’s School Lessons: After two weeks off from school, it’s no surprise if your child forgot the last thing they learned prior to their winter vacation. So dust off those books and have a little refresher session with your child this winter vacation. They will not only remember their lessons but will also look like a superstar in the classroom.
- Reminisce your Winter Break: On the first day back from a long winter break, most teachers will ask their students what they did during their winter break. To assure your child doesn’t get caught off guard with this question, review the different activities they did this winter vacation before their first day and have them pick their favorite!
BHW wishes each and every one one of you a great week back to school!
